Re: Tuning

That would work, but as Paul might confirm, by placing thr reed blocks back in the accordion, it might change the tune enough that it well still be out of tune, that is why all measurements be taken while the reeds are in the accordion, and base the adjustments to be made on those instead of the mea...

Re: The World of Russian Bayans (CBA)

The thing that impresssed me most was how fast the Bayan reeds responded, there was no audible delay between pressing and hearing the note. On the Vignoni reeds... wow, that was almost unusable! Those reeds just of themselves needed a lot of work.

Re: How many boxes you got and your favorites?

Having a Roland makes adding bass markers a breeze, but it's especially nice on a Free Bass, for me, it is important. I added a little rhinesone on every "C" of my chosen Free Bass style on the Roland. Free Bass on both the Roland and Hohner Morino is going to come back in to my life this fall/winte...

Re: Age - Aches & pains...

For sure... rest and light to medium exertion levels of exercise over time are a better cure. Ideas: - Find a local place that does a gentle form of Yoga for light stretching and relaxation - Find a local place that does deep muscle massage therapy. - Walk a minimum of 30 minutes a day early in the ...

...I am crazy about Jinny Mac playing Patsy Cline's I fall to pieces which just comes across so beautifully on the accordion.
As does her song "Crazy", which was one of my dad's biggest favorites. :)

Ed at Cotati

I am not sure if you guys here know it, but our own Ed Manfredi is going to be performing a little at Cotati this year, and has taken the time to thank a store that has gone out of their way to lend him an accordion to play while he was there, so that he would not have to take any chances with his B...

The news about Régis Gizavo seems to indicate otherwise...
It is just so unpredictable. Enjoy every day we have!
Within reason, of course. Too much of anything is no good. I did not think that needed to be said.

Re: Régis Gizavo: 1959-2017, Master Accordionist

So true... I am born 1960 and am making some serious life readjustment that include more travel and other pretty major life changes. For me, though, I know I have to work in one fashion or another. The week my grandfather retired he discovered he had leukemia and died one year later almost to the da...

Re: PA Skype Teacher Recommendations

When I went to the conservatory Glen Sawich was my teacher, and one day in walked Joseph Macerollo. I about crapped my pants, but I fast found out that he was a human being, but not just a human being, an amazing one. With the accordion on, he had insights I never imagined, but after he took it off,...
