Re: Street music whilst on holiday

France has become rather regulating when it comes to street music and often requires a permit to play if you don't want to be moved on by the police. Our group play in Saint Malo every Thursday evening during the summer and every week, we receive our permission to play (which we have to have with us...

Re: Carnival/circus music?

I have the music of Over the Waves if you need it .... just let me know.
The Entry of the Gladiators is much faster but the bass chords are very straightforward.

Re: Carnival/circus music?

I would also have suggested Entry of the Gladiators !
There's another one that's sometimes associated with circuses : Over the Waves by J Rosas. It's very easy and rather a gentle waltz and I've heard it accompanying trapeze artists !

Re: Left hand "sweat" band

Actually, I don't find it slips but then I'm only playing for around 1 1/2 to 2 hours at the most. What I'm not sure of is just how long it will last ! It's very old and very soft and leaves no rib marks ! However .... your silver stocking looks a better idea in the long term as it will certainly ou...

Re: Left hand "sweat" band

I would think that a sock... unless it was a pair of silk socks, would be too thick and not slippery enough, compared to other possible options out there. :) Not necessarily ! I was going to post a photo of my cut down old Puma sports sock that I use but was afraid it might be laughed at. So here it...

Re: Un P'tit Brun D'Musette

A very well-known tune here in France but always a pleasure to listen to and you played it very nicely. I loved the sound of the first half but the "brilliant" button was too harsh for me.

Re: Log in problems

It's quite possible you're right about the problem possibly being with the account, Howie. I'm an admin/mod with a small expat forum which has been going for 8 years using the same format as this one (phpBB). We have upgraded several times with no problems at all. The forum owner's account must be p...

Re: A Few Tears.

I think it's a wonderful thing to do, Stephen and Debra. Music can reach people where things can't. It sounds corny to say it reaches people's souls, but I can't think of another way to describe it. Music is so often associated with memories and the effect it seems to have on people with dementia is...
