Re: The World of Russian Bayans (CBA)

In talking about these impressive instruments I'd be interested in any comments along the way about true bayans in C system - is that what you had built Paul?

Re: country music

What??? Why What??? ??? :? Tom I didn't understand why I should imitate a fiddle player when playing accordion. OK, thanks for the clarification. Seems a reasonable thing to do given that fiddle is a deeply established country instrument with a continuous sound that plays both (two note) chords and...

Re: country music

So you went from piano to the accordion? If so, how did you deal with the fact that you already knew country music? What did you have to practice? One tip is that just because the accordion has a piano-style keyboard on one side, that doesn't necessarily mean you should always try to play country m...

Re: Carnival/circus music?

I will admit that, humming "Gladiators" to myself I was thinking about arpeggiating some of the runs to make life easier! :D

"Over the Waves"- Of course!

Both tunes taking me back to sixties/seventies as a nipper.

Re: Carnival/circus music?

"Entry of the Gladiators" is surely the classic for that purpose. For the "cirque du freak" element Ron Grainger's theme for "Tales of the Unexpected" comes to mind. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0itlB23fFY ....though I'm wondering whether a "playable" accordion version would only work for audien...

It's certainly a demo, which I don't think is what Glorion was up to. Pardon my ignorance, is that Cajun? It's funny how different the two instruments sound.
Just a nice Schottische I'd say. :)

Re: What exactly is a French accordion?

I think I have mentioned before, Cooperfisa / Coope Armoniche appears to still be in the French accordion business, in Vercelli Italy. I'm surprised to hear that the Saltarelle shows up in musette. It's very like the French chromatics we've been talking about, as of course it is one technically - s...

Re: Southern England Chromatic Button Accordion Rally

Hi John, good to hear from you, I was planning on getting a message to you via Sabotage in case you didn't see it here.
Looking at Saturdays in October and hope to have something definite in the next day or so.

Re: new Fisitalia ergonomic free bass accordion

Curious... this accordion will likely be bought by less than 10 people world-wide, and likely each one probably a master Bayanist, nice concept, not very business savvy. Niche high-end item to add prestige to the brand? I guess accordions are sufficiently hand made that the costs or producing somet...
