Re: Digital, MIDI or?

You can play an acoustic accordion with midi using earphones and not disturb others IF the accordion is equipped with mutes so no reeds will sound. Only if you accept the fact that you cannot have any kind of accordion sound while doing this. I think Garth mentioned that of all things, the accordio...

Re: Recording for YouTube posting

Seriously... if one's goal was an educational video of any kind, an iPhone on a tripod and it's built-in microphone would be just fine. We are often spoiled by some of the studio quality videos we see out there, done by amateurs and professionals as well, and they are pretty amazing, but keeping in ...

Re: Same problem on FR7, 7X, 8X! Crazy!

Pentaprism, what I'd like to know is where you got those pictures from? I'd love to have a service manual for my 8x! :b

Re: Views on Vignoni

Well, like everything else, you cannot just ask about a complete company... it's like asking about Ford... is Ford good? Like all things in life, some are, and some aren't. My only experience with Vignoni is with hearing someone play a FS 15 VSX in person... It was stunning, and played by a good pla...

Re: Indifference

The little I know Ed, it would not surprise me. If we were the ones choosing, probably the first or second try would have been good enough, but Ed tries hard to deliver the best he can with each piece he publishes for us. :)

Re: Indifference

I had the pleasure of hearing this earlier than most and in a couple of different renditions by Ed. I have to say, everytime I hear Ed play, I have nothing but respect for his style, technique and ability. Well done, another one of those videos that gets played over several times, and once even whil...

Re: Digital, MIDI or?

I own accordions of all 3 levels: - Straight acoustic - Acoustic-MIDI - Pure 100% digital. Each is a world totally unto itself, each has advantages and disadvantages. That said, the one thing that you mention, playing with headphones in "silence", is a trait that can only be done on the Ro...

Re: Recording for YouTube posting

To start making basic educational videos about the concerto, you don't need to have perfect sound or perfect video, just making it is a step in the right direction. That said, everything you do to make it look and sound better is going to make the video more viewable and enjoyable to watch. One coul...

Re: How do you tie a note to a reed block

That kind of begs the question... what is the proper way to clean a reed short of blowing it out? One just literally blows (or sucks) hard on the reed by placing the right hole of the reed block against your lips. (Just saw Jim D. do this to great effect on my accordion this Saturday :D ) Is that g...
