Theremin is not pure sine. Sound generation happens at radio frequencies, one oscillator is fixed and other pitch is capacitively controlled by hand. Audible frequency is frequency difference(subtraction osc1-osc2) between these two oscillators. Something similar happens like in regenerative radios....

Re: Viva Tenerife

I learned it by ear. I used mostly this version

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1VsIz0nUf0

Some bars are from other versions to get better idea what the actual melody is, singer is so emotional that is little hard to get exact notes :)

Re: Accordion Waltz by F. Fredriksen

Timing in trio is bit uneven due to very uneven spring tension. Previous owner had probably tried to correct row height but have failed and causing uneven spring tension and uneven height.

By the way, if anybody knows other recordings of this tune please let me know :)

Re: Using the left hand thumb

Thumb is not strict requirement but considering tehcnical possibilities that accordion has it is a little shame that using thumb in left hand is brought up only quite recently. It is interesting that there has been attempts in past but they have failed. Farmen system or actually his teacher inventio...

Re: Accordion on the Airplane

Probably trip from Estonia to Tenerife waits me in near future and I must take my accordion with me. My 5 reed Accordiola Jazzmaster probably don't fit under seat nor overhead compartment. Shipping it with DHL is quite expensive, but I plan to try Pelicase solution https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sz...

Re: PC Games Music - WarCraft 2

You can't just use most dominant melody note on bass - highest voice usually, you just end up with playing melody on bass. Bass is for harmony chord root note, it determines harmony chord inversion. You need to work out melody and harmony separately, harmony isn't usually same as melody. I don't hav...

Re: PC Games Music - WarCraft 2

Question is not what type accordion is used to play this tune, but can player make his/her own arrangement of it! I listened Orc 3 theme and it is hard and complex at first but if you it apart you end with simple bass line and melody and bunch of non-important effect/fill voices. Effect/fill voices ...

Re: Learning multiple instruments

In general I think that playing many instruments in mor beneficial than negative. It is very popular in jazz circle. Yes there may be interference between instruments and more attention is needed but is is doable. In higher music schools in estonia all non piano students are required to also take pi...

Webcam software that I use can record PCM from any source and ellimintaes out-of-sync problem for simple cases, but recor...

Re: Are such accordions any good?

Colored buttons may be useful for very early beginners especially when one plays in front of mirror. These instruments with colored bass buttons were made for beginners and self leaners. I have seen many old and new self instruction books for bayan and they all contain both keyboard layouts with col...

Re: Are such accordions any good?

These are old russian bayan's. There are many on ebay, some have even registers and convertor free bass system. They may sound very nice if they are in good condition. Also their quality depends on maker, many factories produced them, most famous are Tyla ones.

Re: Improvisation on the Box

I probably should have been mention that chord-scale method is newer than jazz improvisation. At dixieland era they probably just tested and played what sounded good and probably used guide tones method. Simply play only chord tones or pentatonic scale with some blue notest and it sounds quite good....
