Re: Cossotto

Indeed cassotto is also known as tone chamber. Double cassotto means there are 2 voices in the chamber so probably yours has that. Usually its the LM in the chamber leaving the detuned M and H reeds outside. Double cassotto is the most common cassotto construction however there are single cassottos ...

No you put the glue on the paper first then put the paper on the grill so it leaves the glue where it needs to be. Then you apply the cloth

Re: And Here Is Another.

That makes me worried. My dream is to order a brand new quality instrument when i can afford it. Just so every little dent is mine. Then my grandkids can have it and it will be grandpas special made accordion. Ive been looking into smaller names like petromaestro who clames to build the instruments ...

Re: Excelsior 921

How reeds are ordered quite straight forward. For example the reeds in cassotto: 2 reedblocks. 1 block has all the white key L and M notes and the other block all the black key L and M notes.

Re: Hohner Morino Skinny

The info i gathered on morinos: The N series unless serviced has this sticky key problem, it might not have it now but at some point will. They have bugari TAM reeds. There are older and newer N series. The old one has a similar keyboard to the gola. The S series is supposedly mechanically an improv...

New instruments and instruments that are owned. So far there is no list of the stolen instruments but keep your eyes and ears open...

Re: Non-Animal based materials for accordions

Maybe the beeswax is not a bad thing it promotes the breeding of bees and as far as i know bees arent really hurt by the process when you get some eco wax. But other then that i cant really find a solution. You can try the nailed on something that imitates leather chamois but the sound is sharper. B...

Re: Building a on off switch for third M register

So i tried soldering my lever, didnt work out to well sincebit doesnt attach to the aluminum. After trying and destroying 3 more basspistons i came up with this :) simple but it works. Its a basspiston holding the lever with a metal wire through of the pinholes and one of the holes in the registerba...

Re: Building a on off switch for third M register

Thanks! If i dont forget i will buy some soldering stuff today and ill make a foto. I think the bassside is a whole lot more complicated to make something like i did. I think because the mechanism is mostly on the inside of the instrument but maybe you can study the inside of a morino vin since it h...

Re: Building a on off switch for third M register

Thanks for the idea! I kind of made a diffirent version of it. I now attached a piece of metal (old basspiston) to more or less where you idea is position but it hold the lever in the middle. I attached it with tape for now and it works amazing. So when i have time i will solder it to the registerba...

Re: Piano or cromatic accordion?

Personally, I think PA is a better choice. The reason: it has piano keys so playing melodies on the PA will help with playing melodies on the piano. There are very few people renowned for playing both organ and piano well in spite of both of them having piano keys for both hands. And a PA has piano...

Re: Who am I?

I think indeed the accordion was comissioned by hohner but not made by them. Cant recall made by who but i read a history once about them by a french accordion repairman. I dont remember who it was though
