Re: Winkelbaß project

For those curious about the tools needed for this project, they are: - band saw (re-sawing stock lumber) - chop saw (end cuts) - table saw (making the square base holes) - jointer (squaring and leveling stock material) - planer (getting exact thickness) - table sander (setting block angle, angled c...

Re: Roman Andrukhiv plays "Isn't She Lovely"

The left hand plays mostly on the two base bass rows. Watching the video again, I confess that I cannot tell if the upper rows are playing chords or single notes. Anyone?

Thanks,

Roman Andrukhiv plays "Isn't She Lovely"

Played on a Stradella Bayan (I think). ("Appasionata" on the accordion in cyrillic.)

Re: Swiss Variety

Clip 4 has German subtitles. Rumantsch sounds like German, but is obviously different enough to warrant its own status in parts of Switzerland. It only has "official" status in certain regions. Sorry but you need to wait for the music in the 4th clip, but it is quite pleasant. Romansch is a group o...

Re: does fr1 accordion have a free bass mode?

One can get to the manual by googling "Roland FR-1 manual" and clicking through a couple of links. You can then search for "free".

(For a digital-native, you seem to be strangely reluctant to do the most basic research by yourself.)

Re: The Best & The Worst. (in your opinion)

Pigini has a "Super Compact" which has 52 notes (E to very high G). ...For people looking for compact without compromise this is definitely "the best". Paul, Thank you very mucho for pointing out this accordion. It seems to sell for around 9000 Euros. If one was willing to spend that, Importing one...

What about the specific counterexample did you not understand?
Your example does not use a single note on the first three rows, as I stipulated.

Re: The chromatic accordion C griff

If you want to learn only one fingering pattern for scales, this will take up 3 rows starting in a location controlled by the music rather than by yourself. For example, if you can only finger the G major scale pattern in the first 3 rows, for A major you will need to be playing your my-only-major-...

Re: The chromatic accordion C griff

The reason to avoid that is that rows are not an inexhaustible resource. Five rows allow you to transpose 3-row pieces anywhere without changing the fingering. If you try to employ the five rows for simplifying chord patterns and only having to learn one fingering, you'll be running out of rows (yo...

Re: The chromatic accordion C griff

I counsel sticking with the outer three rows and avoiding the two inner "repeat" rows for a hefty period of time. Just be aware that with the approach recommended by OuijaBoard chord shapes are not 100% movable. For example you need to know two versions of a major chord. You will need up to three v...
