bellows

Hi! I am now learning this one: https://imgur.com/d0f8A34 The LH accompaniment is bassically just 7th chords on beats 1-2-3-4. There is no LH in bars 11 and 12. I play two bars out and two bars in with the bellows. This means that I bassically need as much air for in and out. The problem is with bar...

getting the best sound

Hi! What are your experience with playing accordion in a band? I'm particalary interested in how to get the greatest sound in the band. I myself have a band which is playing in a small music room. We are only able to use electric drums so the accordion is not using a microphone but I will soon be pl...

accordion and simplicity

Hi! I'm not sure where to post this but anyway... So some month ago I was talking with a pianist on how he played his traditional/folk melodies and comping on the piano. He told me he took the simple accordion comping style and played it on the piano. To my knowledge it's not easy to play this compi...

Re: your thoughts on this tune

I'd have thought it's all down to how far you want to go. That bass line is about as friendly a starting point as one could wish for, start putting in the tune, then adding decoration and fills. Plenty of examples of nice fills on various instruments around. Do you want to accompany a singer, or an...

practicing leaps in LH

What do you do in order to find the bass note you start on? And how did you practice finding the different buttons? What I do is find C and then go C-G-D-A in order to find A if that is the first button. It seems that the best exercise is to find to chords eg Am and C and then practice jumping betwe...

Re: folk rhythms

What is a "folk club"? I think musician can be Kinda too serious some times. I mean, if the musicians weren't serious at a papal Mass we would have a problem but...there are other time when we must be less serious/strict (even if we still follow the rules of music). Just the other day I saw a band p...

Gloomy Sunday

Today I was practicing the tune Gloomy Sunday with a jazz ensemble. The teacher played the piano and I some simple mostly chromstic lines (and mostly longer held notes). There were one line which were chromatic and started on the third of the chord. The bass tuba (nice instrument to play with) start...

Re: autumn leaves

Would that be a B bass + Dm ? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Yep, but the chord itself can be made by Dm + Ddim (knowing that Ddim does not give the 4 notes of Ddim as it does not have the As we don't want). But when you use the base note you don't here a difference between B + Dm and B + Dm + Dd...

Re: autumn leaves

How should the B7(b5) be voiced?
I'm playing the tune in Am.
