Re: Waiting for an OS Update for the FR4x

Yes, velocity, expression (cc#11) are all part of the MIDI protocol, but you can manipulate MIDI data to accomplish what you want to do. For instance, change basic accordion midi channel 1 for the treble, channel 2 for the chord, and ch 3 for the bass all to channel 1 so that all the notes you play ...

Re: Configuring the BK7m to the Roland 8 X

I am not big on "arranger playing' at all, but many arranger keyboard players seem to agree that Ketron has very vibrant and realistic sounds. I have the Ketron SD40, but sounds by V3 Sound are higher quality. What's nice about the SD40 is that it is very compact and yet it features video out, USB h...

Re: Waiting for an OS Update for the FR4x

The BK7m, I believe, translates the bellow dynamics (expression cc#11) into velocity somehow, while the Korg does not. I find the same to be true of Ketron devices. I have an arranger module called Desktop by V3 Sound with high quality sounds better than Ketron sounds. When I use the Desktop in the ...

Re: 7x LCD Screen

Seems this tread has become off topic. As far as the 7x screen replacements - they should be available in the next 60 to 90 days. :b  :b Someone called Roland US last week or so in regards to the 7x LCD only to hear that Roland has no plans to supply 7x LCD. Last year, I bought 3 screens while...

Re: Wireless Midi

All these proprietary wireless MIDI systems for various reedless/MIDI accordions range from $1,500 to $2,000. However, they don't to have be proprietary nor expensive at all. MIDI is a rather "simple" language. A person with a good understanding of electronics or a technician can easily make a batte...

btw in my recent search for a personal amp I also tried the Maui and I liked it a lot, especially at the price compared to the competition
It seems that in Europe there are speakers/amps that are not easily available in the US. So what system do you have/use, if I many ask?

Re: Maui 5 Speakers

I've heard good things about the Maui 5 by LD Systems in comparison with the Bose Compact. I've owned their Maui 11 and Maui 28 "designed in Germany" but all assembled in Red China. Amazon has some reviews https://www.amazon.com/LD-Systems-MAUI-Channel-System/dp/B019PGACR0#customerReviews If a perso...

Re: Wireless Stereo

First... I love these things! :) The not so good... what I am having trouble with is getting my super cheap lavalier to work with it. I can plug the receiver in to my camcorder, plug a dynamic mic (not a condenser mic) in to the setup and it works perfectly, but when I plug in the lavalier mic in.....

Re: Wireless Stereo

Jerry, thanks for the great initial report. It sounds pretty promising as I had expected. I can also see myself getting 2 units or so for various applications. I really like the fact that you can feed vocal and your accordion into the system.

Re: Wireless Stereo

I purchased this transmitter from this Chinese company. Thought it was good deal at the time1! But the item kept cutting out on a gig. Worked ok at home. Think it was getting interference??? I just gave up then went with an expensive Audio Technica wireless. That had fewer drop outs. It is in my dr...

Re: Wireless Stereo

Cool, I had strong indications it was. And talking about coincidences, that same town is where I picked up my Roland FR-8X, it's a short 15-20 minute drive from where I live. Is this a sign? If the latency is noticeable, that would kind of drive me nuts. I'll have to see if I can find an addr...

Re: Wireless Stereo

Their eBay listing shows as their location; Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Canada. So your are right! Lots of good reviews by buyers. The unit is very promising. It says that you can use 40 units in the same room! Maybe one who plays only a V accordion doesn't need to operate in stereo but when p...

Re: Waiting for an OS Update for the FR4x

It is interesting on using the accordion treble side to transmit midi. You can get some interesting layers on the arranger. Not sure if the VAccordion was meant to be a specific controller? So probably all the features were not included. As you know, the real magic happens when layering two or more...

I stumbled upon this wireless stereo system by a small Canadian company. Company website http://jd-xlabs.com/ They sell it cheaper on eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/Roland-V-Accordion-FR-Wireless-transmitter/253481359998?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649 JD-XLABs X-100, 10 un...

Re: Some Good News !!

As most members here know I have for years now, I make aftermarket parts for Roland "V" accordions. First of all, thank you for posting MIke's contact info here. I've seen his post on the Yahoo forum, too. What aftermarket parts do you make for V accordions? Do you have a website? Can we get your c...

Re: Waiting for an OS Update for the FR4x

Bellow dynamics = CC#11. Volume CC#7. Though bellow dynamics and velocity are two different things, your observation, Keymn, about the end results of combined dynamics and velocity is right depending on the module or software instrument you use. Many modules “listen” for bellow dynamics cc#11, the e...

Re: Waiting for an OS Update for the FR4x

Hi Keymn, The MIDI messages Note On/OFF, though having nothing to do with the velocity issue being discussed, has a purpose as you mentioned. Say that you are playing your 4x and driving the Korg Pa3x. If you want to play only the 4x sound, you use a particular register with Note Off in MIDI transmi...

Re: 7x LCD Screen

Perhaps I should clarify further. I am not reiinventing midi or wireless. I am using the commercially available MidiJet which has proven very reliable on another Millennium controller. I reverse engineered the working controller and I built a driver and installed it in this second Millennium contro...
