Re: Not just for Dancers...

i'm sad to say if you only manage to half grasp the nature of rhythm on the spoons then you're gonna be damned...best master before trying ensemble with such an exposed instrument.... i remember being with Harry Hussey one night and he just stopped playing after 8 bars... the audience , albeit well ...

Re: Not just for Dancers...

The reason I posted clip, aside from being a dancer, is I was at accordion festival last year and amazed at the amount of different time persuasions 😉 I heard when players tried to clap along with the music....players who were sight readers in accordion orchestras......gobsmacking ....but made me re...

Re: BON Artz try-out

Just thought id mention i play the old tunes to keep them alive rather than keep the accordion alive....id be playing same tunes on whatever instrument i could get my hands on As to Bach...he's the daddy.....if he hadn't tempered the scale we wouldn't have them great jazz tunes that follow his rules...

Re: first night nerves... Swing d'ouf

Aside from the "they always clap when we stop playing..." line I often use the "I'm sorry to say I don't see so well but my partner tells me you're a lovely looking audience....is I ok if I touch you?" one ......

Re: first night nerves... Swing d'ouf

Thank you....this little gig was an outside do at a 1940s festival...low key affair with people milling round a cafe/showground...suited me fine... I do not like to give PERFORMANCES and turn down gigs if I think there will be a facing/ listening audience....my playing ability is not high enough to ...

Re: Dominique Paats

Glad it's not just me then Johnny...though I end up playing in gypsy jazz combos its not because I like the pyrotechnics, I find them tedious at best, but I do like the backbone of the original melodies, I never understood the mentality of 'showing them what I can do' over melody...music shouldn't b...

Re: Dominique Paats

I've always liked D. Paats....probably cos we play the same set list...great player but can't say his playing matches the flippant charm of J.Meijer's... Here's another gem...and a fine lesson in chord melody to boot https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Kmvg7-5pgu8 We must be getting same youtube feeds to ...

Re: Check out this sight BandLab

I did peek at this before...pretty cool...
I was looking for some decent conga loops at the time and ended up on this site...
Never did find any loops....any suggestions...want decent real patterns...ie samba, doot doot pab da doot doot da pab...etc rather than someone's random flailing's...
Thanks
