Specific reason for joining?

Post by Edward Jennings » Tue Feb 14, 2017 11:00 pm

Hello again. New kid on the block here, with one of my specific requests;

I have a reedblock from a Hohner Tango 3, complete with the 2 stop slides (well, it's two joined together at one end, actually) and I'm looking for another one like it. It's for a project which I'm attempting, which I won't bore you with. I'll take one with or without the reeds, depending on price, of course, or a different one, as long as it is similar.
I'd really appreciate any help on this, thanks.

Could you post a photo of the reedblock, please? Ideally with dimensions. My husband has disembowelled a number of old Hohners, and may well have something that matches your reedblock.

OOOOOOH, Anyanka!

I cannot just now, as it's the best part of 3000 miles away. But, as I recall, it had about 23 reed chambers on each side, and one side must have been for the black key reeds, as they went 2 holes-no hole-3 holes-no hole-2 holes etc for the full length of the block. The brass slides are joined at the bass end and the holes in them are offset with each other.

We won't be back home until late March, so there's no real rush! Perhaps if you can have a look and see if anything you have remotely resembles what I've described, you could message me here with how much you'd want for it? I'd be ever so grateful, thanks.

I'll talk to The Husband when he comes home, and send him on a search in his workshop... just as well there's no hurry, it's a mess in there!

Thanks. But I'd bet money that his workshop isn't as bad as my cupboard/workshop/storeroom/all in one. Haha.
I'll keep my fingers crossed.

No,no,no,no. It is not a mess. It is a well thought out ,technically and scientifically accurate storage and repository system . :roll:

The advantage of a random storage system is that everything is always in the right place. The other advantages are..... :?

Curiouser and curiouser! It seems that I may not be alone after all.
