New Year's Wishes

Post by TomBR » Sun Dec 31, 2017 10:38 am

My wife is just talking to her sister in Australia, it's getting close to the year change there while it's a mild damp Sunday morning here in England, so we'll all be celebrating (or not) at different times on this worldwide forum.

So, very best wishes to one and all for 2018, may it be a happy, safe and prosperous year for you. (With plenty of accordion playing!) :D

Some seasonal thoughts from the Kipper Family of Norfolk.

'Tis now the turning of the year, when hopes are all renewed,
Mind you, we said the same last year and nothing much ensued.

Let us now be thankful that the old year have departed,
But there's no time to rest before another one have started.

Now the old year's passed away cast away your sins,
There's lots of lovely new ones as another year begins!

Very many thanks as always to Knobby and all the mods for this great site!
Happy New Year,
Tom

I wish everyone here a happy year filled with accordion music (preferably played by yourself)!

Happy new year to everyone. Hope it’s a good one.
Just wrapping up a New Year in Venice (I know, privileged).
Only heard two accordions here these last few days and they were boxes with keys missing and played by someone who could move the bellows and look pathetic at the same time. Here’s hoping to meet better buskers wherever we are.

Fresh new year...may your bellows never burp..
Right or wrong make it strong...when in doubt miss it out...

Belated Best Wishes for the New Year. Its all been a bit flat over the festive season, our little dog died just before Christmas. Although she was small and just about staffie size she has left a big hole.

Happy new year to everyone on here. It's been a much calmer & welcoming site lately... well done & thanks Knobby.

And my sympathies to Hais.. I know hollow it feels.

I'm hoping to find a resolution to my neck/shoulder problem so I can return to playing comfortably... but I'm off to get some sun in the Canaries for a week soon... so can look forward to that at least. :D

Hais, I am very sorry to hear about your sad loss.
This poem has come rather late for you, but it should help others who may be facing the same circumstance in the future.

If it should be that I grow weak
and pain should keep me from my sleep
Then you must do what must be done
For this last battle can't be won

You will be sad, I understand
but don't let grief then stay your hand
for this day more than all the rest
your love for me must stand the test

We've had so many happy years
what is to come can hold no fears
You don't want me to suffer so
The time has come, please let me go

Take me where my needs they'll tend
But still stay with me 'til the end
Hold me close and speak to me
until my eyes no longer see

I know in time you will agree
It was a kindness done for me
Although my tail its last has waved
From pain and suffering I am saved

Please to not grieve that it was you
Who had this painful thing to do
We've been so close, we two, through the years
Don't let your heart hold any tears
