Roland FR3X vs FR4X

Post by landro » Wed Aug 08, 2018 10:02 pm

Can anyone here who has had both , tell me what the major differences are between the two , other than cosmetic and price? AND, is there a valid benefit to choose the 4X over the 3X?
Thank you.

I pretty much did find some differences in this sales ad link : https://www.falcettimusic.com/f_accordions/fr4x.html

Still, I was more interested in an actual users opinion.

Going online is going to be the one way. The short answer is that the 3X came out over 8 years ago... March 2010 and the 4X came out in 2016. In an industry where changes come out almost daily, a product that is 8 years old has definitely been passed by the newer product.

That said, here comes the hard part... you have to know YOUR needs and requirements, and unfortunately no one else other than you will be able to tell you that. You need to do the research and decide which works for you.

Another way to see more differences is to get to know them both, and one way is to visit a location that sells them both and an even easier way is to download the freely available PDF documentation from the Roland website and spend an afternoon reading.

Thanks Jerry,
I decided to just go ahead and get the FR4X (a done deal) since it has the FR8X sound engine.
I also like the quick access to the drums.
I`ve had the 7X and the 3X in the past so I`m quite familiar with the Rolands . I sold off my FR3X a few weeks ago thinking I could get by in my old age using one of my acoustic accordions but I soon realized what a terrible mistake that was.

That is what sold me was the 8x sound engine. With the editor, makes it easy to program registers, if needed. Have fun and enjoy your new instrument...
It is a well balanced...

If you had experience with the 3X and 7X, then I think you are going to be quite happy with the 4X. Besides the light weight, there is that undeniable versatility and diversity of sounds that just makes it a pleasure to use.

I look forward to hearing your experiences with the 4X and maybe seeing a video or two of you enjoying it. :) :ch

I bought a FR 4X about three months ago. My first venture with digital. My first one had issues and the supplier changed it for another
Initially it was a nightmare trying to get the sounds I wanted and how to access them quickly, but eventually I conquered the basics
I really enjoy playing it now and want to move on to the next stage where I can make my own sets. Something for the winter to do
Does anyone know if there is anyone in the UK
Who makes sets as they do in USA? Certainly would be a time saver
All in all I’m thoroughly enjoying playing it and have no regrets in switching from my Honer to my Roland
