Lovely tune clips, and thank you for posting them. I don't usually like MIDI, but I think you have it all gauged very tastefully, and sweet playing on both boxes. The MM on the red accordion is about the wetness of the factory MM on a Weltmeister I have that sitting behind it while playing, I was thinking of thinning down. But heard facing yours, it has a nice old-school tremolo feel to it.

Hi AA,

A very good sound regardless of how you did it. I'm not a big fan of digital accordions, as it seems a number of players cannot seem to set them up properly, and I wouldn't have the patience to work out how to do that. However, the sound you are getting is excellent, and as usual the tune was very well played, again!

Hi AA

Lovely playing. Loved the sound of your Roland on Indifference but wondered which one it was eg FR3 or FR4 etc. Sounds great ☺️

Its an FR-8Xb.

Plugging it in drastically improves the sound over recording them through an external mic... and AA has some very impressive playing skills. :)

Wonderful playing, AA. I like the way you play the different styles of music with such feeling. I have never really liked MIDI either but your playing makes it sound beautiful.

I've been working on this technique (light) for a few years, thanks :)

I think that MIDI accordion isn't bad - that can be future of accordions :)

Hmm, not too sure about that. There are still plenty of non-digital pianos around !! ;)

Hi AA,

Yet another masterpiece. You've certainly got that Roland tamed.

i enjoyed it, lovely playing

good promotion for the Roland, must hear on speakers with some punch otherwise the low end of that deep bass is pretty lost

The acknowledged worst way to record this accordion is the way that this video was presented... letting the mic from the video camera capture the music.

AA, at the very least, I wonder if you knew that you could record your music to a USB stick on the accordion at the same time you are recording the camera's audio/video... and then in post-process using a video editor, replace the audio from the camera with the audio captured on the USB stick? This requires no extra equipment, except a USB stick. The method is not the best, but it is at least 5 steps better than using the audio from the video camera's factory mic. ;)

jerry, that is just old record :)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqNcn8CE7Gs
for example here have i record with audio connect with pc.. I am looking for a sound card for even better sound quality. Maybe can u help with that? :)

but I think that Roland in the concert hall sounds pretty good, unfortunately we can't hear it on the recordings. Whatever, next videos will be probably with a better sound.

Ohh! Well, sorry about that :) ... but I still think the suggestion is a good alternative, until you get not a sound card, but an audio interface. You don't want a sound card, you want something that can capture your audio at high quality in digital format to your computer, and that is exactly what an audio interface does.

Prices have started to fall al lot, and one can get a very affordable audio interface like the BEHRINGER U-PHORIA UMC22 for just under $50US.

For now, just try to record on the USB stick in your accordion, let the camera record what it wants and sync the 2 in a video editor. This is a guarantee of good quality and free, but requires some work in a video editor later.

If you don't want to do anything fancy and have about $15 for plugs and 20 feet of 3 wire cable and know how to solder, you can make a cable that goes directly to your camcorder (as long as it has a stereo mic input, but near everyone today does), and no editing needed afterwards, just some camera settings to be aware of. Some cable, 3 connectors, 30 minutes to solder and you are done.

Image

Place the 2 mono cables in to your 8X, the other end you plug in to the mic input. On the camera, if possible, disable AutoGain, set the recording levels so you do not distort when playing loud. Set the camera to record and play to capture what you want to make.

If you want to, trim the video in the editor, upload to YouTube and you are done. This is about the fastest and easiest way to do it.

Just in case someone is curious, if this is so easy, why isn't everyone doing it this way? Because the price here is control. Using this method, you lose some control of the music quality and for example, not everyone wants the right hand coming out of the left speaker and left hand coming out the right speaker, some people want to adjust this, and this becomes more challenging doing it this way... but it sounds a LOT better than letting the tiny low quality camera microphone capture the sound.

Just my 2 cents. :)

I have a problem - i cant connect my Roland with pendrive, i don't know, probably 16 and 32 GB are no compatible with accordion. maybe too large. so I bought that cable as you showed in the picture, but probably i need sound card or this audio interface that is good idea ! :). I need better audio, video that is not problem. I will record CD later... but in the future. I am too weak to solder :D wanna have first only great audio to make my YTchannel better.
