Mia and Sebastian's - Theme La La Land

Post by losthobos » Mon Feb 13, 2017 5:34 pm

I went to see La La Land the other week and was so touched by the soundtrack I had to go back to cinema and watch again...
Here's my rendition of Mia and Sebastian's Theme....

I've been working on the other theme 'City of Stars' but i'm not sure i'm going to be able to do it any favours :(
This was recorded at Eastbourne Accordion Festival.
Right or wrong make it strong...when in doubt miss it out...

So many good things about this, the way it builds up, the changes in texture, the way you drop the phrases into mid-air. Hope you enjoyed Eastbourne, what was the section where you were playing this to the audience?

Thanks Matt...this is a lovely piece to play and there is loads of room for expressive development...I do it no justice at all but will continue to enjoy for a long time
Ryan Gosling needed to learn this on piano for movie and he had to put in 3hrs a day for 4 months just to look like he played in under the composers playing (i've jumped ship vefore the part goes real freelance :( oneday perhaps)
Anyways I can't recommend the soundtrack to LaLaLand enough..even if seen as just variations on a theme...i've been touched
As to Eastbourne I only went for a day and a bit and enjoyed myself, this was played at guest concert in afternoon where anyone can have a squeeze or two...
High point for me was hanging with Harry Hussey who's playing was really on top form this weekend..i've some video footage i'll try and edit and add to my youtube account over next week or so..oh and Paris Moscow Duo sure can cut the mustard..world class act
Right or wrong make it strong...when in doubt miss it out...
