Weltmeister Cantus IV, cassotto, with internal mics

Post by Uncle Kosta » Fri Jul 07, 2017 1:15 pm

FOR SALE: Weltmeister Cantus IV with tone chamber and full internal pickup system.
This exceptional instrument was one of Weltmeister’s top models during the 80’s. It is in pristine quality, with perfect bellows hold, excellent keyboard action, and bass and register mechanics. The accordion has been recently fully serviced and tuned.
The top-quality, hand-made Italian reeds, combined with the beautiful and classic tone chamber produce a sweet, yet powerful sound. The perfect action of the keyboard and the overall light weight make this instrument very comfortable and easy to play. The accordion comes with the exceptional Mic-7 pickup system, containing 4 treble and 3 bass condenser microphones, easily connected to any PA system or amp through a single jack. The microphones are just as excellent for live performance, as well as for recording:

The instrument comes with brand new leather straps, back strap, velvet bellows protector, and soft carry case.
More photos and sound samples available on request.

It has very expensive microphones in it, hand-made reeds, and is in pristine condition. But the price is negotiable :)

Weltmeister has a bad reputation here because of the many junk instruments produced in the DDR era. It takes decades to get over that and build up a better reputation. Because of the reputation people tend to only buy cheap Weltmeisters as beginner boxes and that does not help to give the brand a better reputation.
And that's the trouble when you know you have a very good instrument and then you want to sell it to someone who only knows the beginner boxes. Resale value is much more a matter of perception than of objective assessment.

There are many junk instruments by many brands. This model in particular was one of the last ones that was built before the wall came down. Before the new line of Supita II and Supra 120, this was one of the best Weltmeister models. Some of the best accordionists in the world play a Weltmeister - Petar Ralchev, Ionica Minune, etc. It's a matter of taste :)

Yes It's a great instrument True. They get sold here for about 1500/2500 euro's. It's next in line after the S series and has i think german TAM reeds. Apparently some of the S series and the supita had italian reeds (look the rivets, the german ones are not like the italian ones). The cantus deluxe had german a mano reeds and so does the cantora (cones after supitA) also the cantora has a basscassotto, very interesting instrument.

Got this information from a guy who restores german accordions he wrote a Little article on the german accordion forum.

I found they all sound Nice rich and warm except the cantora ive only heard on Youtube :(

That's absolutely correct - the S4 and Supita had hand-made Italian reeds. All of my reeds are from an S4, I've checked all rivets!
