How many do you own?

Post by Knobby » Fri Oct 04, 2013 10:49 am

I have just agreed to buy another accordion, but have yet to break the news to my "fun prevention officer". I know I'll be in trouble and will have to resort to the "but look how many pairs of shoes you have" argument, even though I know it won't work.

This got me to thinking - how many accordions do other people own? Is one really enough? Am I odd in wanting more than one? How do you justify the need for multiple accordions?

My new purchase will take me to 3, but I may part with my original one.
Hohner Vox 4P, Hohner Tango II, Galotta Continent. I just wish I could play them!

I have three - well sort of. A Serenellini 72 bass wooden, a Sonola 5 reed Festival and a new Coooperativa on the way but the Sonoloa is in part exchange:(

Yes, they count as the poll does include Melodeons, etc.

Technically, SIX... although I only really want two for playing: one for best and one for Morris.

Weltmeister CBA 60 bass (I bought it to explore buttons, but it's now for the Husband, really).
Pigini C37 CBA for best.
Pigini Wing 120 bass, soon going up for sale.
Hohner Student 48 bass for Morris, to be replaced by:
Hohner Amati 48-bass CBA, which should be on its way from Switzerland
and a 32-bass Weltmeister, at the Hobgoblin for sale, but technically still mine.

Not counting the various partials that the husband has in his workshop as organ donors, one of which (Hohner Tango II) I wanted fixed for me but have now given up on...

4 (at present)
Ballone Burini 46C
Marinucci 4 voice
Hohner Vox 4k
Accordiola Piano V

I would like to try my hand (left one) at a converter if I can find one that is a fair price.

Oh but it says that at the bottom of this post.
1) Ballone Burini 46C (4+5) cassotto (LMMH) 3/3 PA; 2) Accordiola Piano V (5+5) cassotto (LMMMH) 3/3 PA;
3) Roland FR8X; 4) Hohner Vox 4k (LMMH) 3/3 CBA

Um six...

Hohner one row melodeon in D from the 1900s (at repairers for tuning) that I bought years ago to try out diatonic accordion.

Hohner Student III 24 bass (Bought as a cheap backup to my 32 bass for outdoor events, but needs tweaking - for some reason the bass goes from an A flat up to A rather than E Flat - E)
Hohner Student IV 32 bass - my maypole/session box
Casali 36 bass (restoration project to teach myself basic repairs - not started yet, still reading the accordion revival website)
Barcarole Studiosus 48 bass ('inherited', currently at repairers with sticking keys that the spindle is fused to. May not be salvageable unless anyone has an identical model with a trashed bass they want rid of.)
Hohner Concerto II 72 bass (just bought from ebay , hasn't arrived yet)
Hohner Carena IIIM 120 bass (bought so I could learn how to play a full size instrument)

Ideally I'd also like a 12x4 row 48 bass, preferably an old Hohner Tango.... or a Student VM if the Barcarole can't be saved.... I like Hohners.

Hmm that's seven if I include the melodeon. I don't think I have a problem... other than the other half doesn't like accordions.

Looks like I am at 6 currently. It fluctuates based on what my "fun prevention officer" (great term, usually called "The war department" in my house) allows.

DaVinci MM Special (a re-branded Guerrini)
PanJet Pancordion - This my converter that I did find at a reasonable price, but have not done much with.
Elkavox 83
Roland FR3x
Student size Titan (probably a titano with the "o" missing)
12 bass Rosetti (given to me, not bad sound but terrible quality)

Titano used the name "TITAN" on their line of student model accordions with 16" and 17" keyboards. JIM D.
